The fuel cell vehicle (FCV) has the potential to revolutionize the world's transportation systems. As choices are made on sources of fuel for FCVs it is important to consider the life-cycle implications of each option or system. This paper describes the life-cycle value assessment (LCVA) process of a joint initiative to evaluate the performance of over 70 vehicle and fuel scenarios, with a focus on Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell vehicles and fuelling infrastructure pathways in three Canadian cities. First, the scope of the study is described Second, a summary of the results from the LCVA qualitative scoping process is presented. Results of the quantitative analysis will be included in the conference presentation and will be available in the final technical report.
