This paper is dealing with the solutions and advantages that climbing and walking robots could provide to same problems presented by Petrochemical Industry and by Underwater Applications. The aim of this paper is to present the results of the investigations carried out by the Task 17 CLAWAR partners regarding the solutions and advantages that climbing and walking robots could provide to same problems presented by Petrochemical Industry and Underwater Applications. In this sense the paper is focused on: -past, nowadays and future perspectives of climbing and walking robots for the petrochemical industry and underwater applications; -The evaluation of the success of climbing and walking robots in the petrochemical industry and underwater applications, along with the evaluation of its interest for carrying out specific tasks in such fields. Because of the very broad application field covered by this work the main goal was segregated into two sections, which in turn were divided into a number of sub-tasks. So, the presented outcomes have been organised following the next main lines: -Petrochemical not underwater; -Underwater, including some petrochemical. In both cases existing technology, projects within CLAWAR partnership, limiting factors, etc., have been investigated.
