The work is devoted to the investigation of degradation mechanisms in solar cells (SC) during the long-term exploitation in near-Earth space. The dark I-V characteristics (I-V) of solar cells with micrometeorite defect and without it, and solar cell which wasn't in space were measured. To investigate the conversion efficiency, the light I-V characteristic of these photovoltaic devices were measured. The authors measured dark I-V characteristics at temperature range from -30 deg C to +60 deg C. It was found, that the recombination is a predominant transport mechanism of charge carriers in solar cells based on crystalline silicon. At the same time, the traps, which energy position is distinguished from Eg/2, introduce main contribution to the generation-recombination current. Moreover, there is an additional trap-assisted tunneling transport mechanism of charge carriers.
