It is well known that the NDT techniques are able to detect both internal and external flaws. It could be also very useful when a component must be geometrically controlled, and its geometric configuration makes this control impossible via visible methods. In case the component has internal hollows with struts of different thickness, we need to make several cut ups of one or more piece from each manufactured batch to assure the quality of the production processes. We have been able to develop an inspection method, with automatic ultrasonic immersion technique, that can provide us enough information from which we can detect the position of different struts and their thickness. By comparing the different measurements with the theoretical values plus the tolerance for each imaginary section of the component in an Excel table, we obtain a readout that simplifies the acceptance/rejection criteria. The operator is not required to know the values of the correct measurements established by drawing.
