In this work a real-time model description of a satellite power system has been carried out within the project Series Optimised Development- and Test-Environment as a part of the COMED (Constellation & Multimedia Entwicklungs- und Demonstrationsprogramm) study. The power system of the small satellite serves as a model baseline. The simulated electrical power system (EPS) consists of a solar generator, a NiH2-battery, a power control and distribution unit (PCDU) including a power bus with an unregulated bus voltage, a battery charge controller (BCC), a maximum power point tracker (MPPT), two ohmic loads and two converter loads. The aim of this work is to investigate the real-time performance and interaction of the power system in combination with a real-time simulated model of an Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS). Therefore, the software tool ROSE (Real-time Object-oriented Software Environment, CAE) has been used. In future, the simulation will also serve as a checkout tool for hardware components and further refinement will be carried out within the systems engineering department of Astrium.
