The possibility of development of a refrigerator based on metal hydride heat pump (MHHP) working with use of heat of explosion engine exhaust gases is considered in the report. Information on experimental refrigerator installation operating in periodic mode with use of MHHP and heat of organic fuel combustion is presented. The scheme of continuously operated refrigerator installation with countercurrent cooler and gas-coolant is offered. The choice of MHHP metal hydrides couple was made, mathematical simulation of heat pump operation was carried out and refrigerator characteristics were calculated taking into consideration temperature parameters of the refrigerator. Proposed constructive and technological decisions allow realizing temperature in the refrigerating chamber of the refrigerator up to -15 deg C and coefficient of performance 0.45. The metal hydride refrigerator can be used as a refrigerating device on a lorry (refrigerated track).
