Recently, discussions on new installation of training simulators are blowing up. Those discussions are came out mainly because of the enforcement of Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW95) convention near future, and other ship operation circumstance reasons. Generally, basic requirements for ship operation/operators are reduction of manning cost, effectiveness of ship operation which means reduction of fuel cost, maintenance cost etc., and maintaining safety of ship operation, those might contradict each other. Therefore, to achieve those contradict requirements, training and education of the ship's operator very effectively in a short period by utilizing simulator are or shall be taking very important part for those requirements. For example, the training simulator can be utilized for the acquirement of ship operation, such as, the repetitive training of plant operation until ship operator acquire skills and also suitable for the experience on abnormal situation which is very difficult to encounter on the real machineries onboard vessels that might damaged at such abnormal condition. On the other hand, from the viewpoint of computer / electronic systems, networking systems and it environment, progresses in performance, capacity, operating software, etc. are enormous. Originally the autors developed EWS basis simulator systems for diesel plant, turbine plant, etc. Therefore, taking this opportunity they reviewed hardware configuration of the simulator system. This report introduces your development of diesel engine plant simulator system of international standard PCs with network that meets above requirements.
