The techniques used in evaluating the wellbore tortuosity effects in drilling with rotary steerable system were investigated. Rotary closed loop system (RCLS) was used to control the wellbore deviation in three dimensional space, while drilling in rotary mode. Torque/drag simulations were performed to illustrate the potential benefits achieved while drilling with rotary steerable systems. The analysis of North Sea Wells showed that the use of RCLS to drill tangential sections reduced the wellbore tortuosity.
