A combined CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) approach for numeric propulsion simulation for ships yields good agreement with the measurements. The approach uses RANSE solver, vortex-lattice methods and a wave resistance panel code. The interaction between the hull, rudder and the propeller is taken into consideration. The influence of the different arrangements of the propeller and the rudder on the propulsive efficiency is well predicted. The determined effective wake distributions can be used for the propeller design.
