In co-operation withe the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG), Munich test drives with a three phase ac locomotive class 120 have been carried out on a high-speed link near Karlsruhe in June 1999. The utilised locomotive 752 004 formerly was a test locomotive for the new high-speed locomotive class 101 of the DB AG. In comparison with the series-locomotive some mocifications are made: Instead of a group drive each traction motor is fed by its own converter and the tractive effort is transmitted from the bogies to the locomotive frame by two push rods instead of bogic centre pins. To investigate the dynamic behaviour of the bogies and the tractive effort utilisation extensive measurement equipment has been installed on the locomotive. Aim is the identification of the dynamic adhesion and thus concluding the tractive effort utilisation. By means of the measurement results the main influence factors on the adhesion like track condition, slip speed and lateral movement is pointed out. Special attention is paid to the push rod force transmission.
