A pulsating flow through a pipe and the discharged jet from the pipe were experimentally studied. The pressure histories along the pipe and the noise emanating from the pipe end were measured. The flow pattern downstream of the pipe end was experimentally visualized and the mechanism of the noise generation was examined. Weak pressure waves which follow the discharged shock from the pipe were found. These pressure waves were spherical in shape and found to be a source of the noise.
