The prediction and the optimization of the vehicle vibrations (for frequencies up to 250 Hz) are an important goal in the car design. An important contribution to the vibration sources is coming from the interaction between the road and the tyre. The simulation of this interaction (in a running car over an uneven road using a multibody code) can help the understanding of the phenomena and can give opportunity of sensitivity analysis without any physical constructions. The presented model needs a supercomputer for the best performance and can simulate the interactions between an uneven road and the tyre up to 250 Hertz, the frequency upper limit depends on the number of modes taken into account. It consists of a modal reduction of a FE model of a non-rolling tyre and a contact algorithm, which detects the distance between the nodes of the tyre and the 3D-mesh representing the road. In order to simulate the rotation of the tyre a 'brush' model has been implemented. The way to implement the model is presented and a comparison between the results of the simulation and the forces measured at the hub of the vehicle is given.
