A newly developed leaky coaxial cable with an insulation diameter of 15 mm was adopted for train communication on osaka's subway line. the subway tunnel, with a total length of 8 kilometers, is divided in the center by a structure supporting the ceiling into two section for the double-trackline. As a result, devices for branching and combining became necessary. This need was met by developing a hybrid circuit using the coaxial code. Measurement of field strength upon completion revealed a sufficiently high level for communication.
