Description of public telephone service on trains between new york and washington. Pushbuttons for dialling, nine base stations along the route, equipped with a total of 34 transmitters and receivers. All base stations connected with a telephone center from where the calls are routed automatically. Six radio channels, 11 phone calls handled at one time along the route nine zones of 25 miles each, phone service switched from transmitter to transmitter.
