The use of robots for welding made significant progress in the automation of Body-in-White manufacture. The next major change has been to allow multiple body styles to be assembled on the same line automatically. This not only allows complete flexibility of production but dramataically cuts the cost of model changes or new models. This paper will look at the techniques which have been adopted in several systems to achieve this and will take a look at some of the options now available.
