Propane is used to extend the range of a methane-fueled car in this project. A feedback loop system for mixture control allows the use of propane or methane or any proportion of the two gases. A refuelling system for propane was devised that allows a refill from a low pressure propane source of a high pressure methane source. The purpose of this paper is to report on the feasibility of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), propane, methane, and various fuel mixtures of propane and methane als potentially viable alternative motor fuels. The Vehicle Research Institute (VRI) at Western Washington University (WWU) has been conducting tests of these fuels to determine levels of vehicle performance and fuel economy.
