The development of a seakeeping data base is presented that provides the hovercraft designer with a heretofore unavailable method to analyze the seakeeping characteristics of notional hovercraft during design exercises according to known performance characteristics. The methodology consists of the collection, analysis, classification and regression of model and full scale performance characteristics of specific hovercraft studied in recent years. The study indicates that a scientific investigation of available seakeeping characteristics may be profitably employed to anticipate the dynamic response of hovercraft designs prior to final verification experiments.
