A numerical formulation is proposed to integrate the set of parabolized Navier-Stokes equations. This technique introduces a time-dependent relaxation effect that suppresses all divergent or departure solutions. With the suggested procedure, the governing system leads to a well-posed initial value problem and therefore is stable for forward integration. The applicability of the present approach is demonstrated with two examples: (1) an internal subsonic flow and (2) the external supersonic flow over a slender cone at large angle of attack. The advantages and limitations of the numerical model are discussed. (DePo)
