Two dimensional unsteady transonic channel flow with a shock wave is considered for the slowly varying time regime. Pressure oscillations, introduced downstream of the shock wave, cause the shock wave to oscillate; the case considered is that where the shock is forced upstream of the throat, disappears, and then reappears as the downstream pressure first increases and then decreases. The subsequent shock wave motion consists of oscillations either about the throat or about the original steady flow shock position, depending upon parametric relationships developed in the analysis. These two cases and the dividing case are illustrated with example calculations. (DePo)
