The High Performance Electrothermal Hydrazine Thruster (HiPEHT) uses electrically produced heat energy for performance augmentation. A flight development and qualification program is currently in progress for a HiPEHT which will provide north-south stationkeeping total impulse for a synchronous communications spacecraft. The thruster, which operates in a blowdown pressure mode, has a thrust level of 100 to 40 millipounds and delivers a mission-averaged specific impulse of 300 seconds. Spacecraft/thruster mechanical, electrical, thermal, telemetry and command interfaces are described for the flight application of the thruster. A summary of the latest performance data is included.
