A numerical analytical model has been developed for the prediction of compressible fluid flow in axisymmetric circular cross-section conical diffusers. The analysis solves the integral compressible equations of fluid flow for the development of the turbulent boundary layer from inlet through fully developed conditions for any axisymmetric inlet condition of blockage and Mach number. The solution applies only to subsonic conditions; however, analysis is possible with sonic inlet velocity. The analytical model predicts accurately the boundary layer and mean flow parameters of a wide variety of conical diffuser configurations and inlet flow conditions when compared to experimental results. The model has demonstrated a correlation of shape factor for the diffuser flow regimes of partial and fully developed flow separation.
