The growing global competition among automotive industries has heightened the need for perfect quality at a reduced cost. The push for quality is at an all-time high. Statistical process control (SPC) is one effective way to deal with the pressures of increasing customer expectations of high performance and low cost. The Klingler Electric Corp., a supplier to one of the leading automotive industries, recently launched an SPC program within all domestic and foreign plants in harness assembly and tooling. The author outlines the methods of SPC.
