Summary form only given, as follows. Aims at organizing a system for discriminating the alluvium sediments into sludge, clay, silt, sand and pebble, and finally at obtaining submarine geological profiles automatically by processing the acoustic information of a Sonoprobe survey. The authors show some specific processes in drawing maps of geological profile, unifying the marine sedimentology with the image processing technique. The processes developed include the following: (i) introducing a recovering method of partially blocked line, (ii) topographical sorting of the sedimental layers, and (iii) transforming the original time-scaled profile into depth-scaled one.
