Describes a system built up by the Dutch authorities for the collection of meteorological and oceanographic data in and near their part of the North Sea. Locations of the stations and brief details of their equipment are tabulated. They collect data on barometric pressure, wind velocity and direction, air and water temperatures, visibility, water level, sea state, relative humidity, and cloud cover. Data collected by the automatic instruments are transmitted to central computers for processing. Some buoys used for automatic data collection (DBI, Marex, DABS-3M) are also described.
