Describes that simulation of a particular road network links are interconnected to form an electrical network with the same topology as the road network, and origin-destination table entries applied as a time-division multiplexed set of electrical currents. Assuming Wardrop's principle the resulting current distribution is analogous to the corresponding traffic distribution. Thus journey times and traffic flows are readily obtained by observing voltage drops and current flows on individual links. A simulator of this type has a number of serious limitations regarding its practical application. These limitations can be overcome by using digital rather than analogue circuit techniques to fabricate the link circuits. This paper describes such a circuit based on binary rate multipliers.
