For pt.IV see ibid., vol.30, no.7, p.215 (1975). Principles of hyperbolic curve positioning are described. The reference frequency is typically 400 MHz, with the satellite frequency being only 32 kHz below this. Integral equations are given for the Doppler shifts over a sequence of short time intervals. A sample computer program is illustrated, using a programme in five modules; viz. executive, satellite navigation, clock, dead reckoning and teletype. The system enables the ship's position to be fixed on a world chart.
