Presents two complementary subjects which have been studied by LAAS in the electric propulsion field. The first is the theoretical study both static and dynamic of a cesium contact ionization microthruster treated as a multivariable system. The second part of the article is devoted to the application of the results thus obtained to the design of a beam current control loop using the vaporizer temperature as the command variable. Finally, the development and test runs of this sub-system are described.
