Lockheed Space Operations Company (LSOC) in its contract with NASA has committed itself to a program of quality products/services and zero defects. This commitment supports the successful history of America's space program. Because of the programmatic change of the Space Transportation System (STS) from R and D to operational status, many factors are considered paramount to accomplish this transition. Our commitment to quality has four aspects: Quality Circles, employee recognition through awards, career development in the assurance sciences, and mofidifications to quality inspection procedures. Each of these aspects will be addressed separately in this paper.
