This paper discusses the requirements and subsequent mechanization of the Mission Avionics of the Navy's new fleet antisubmarine warfare helicopter, the SH-60F CV Inner Zone ASW Weapon System (CV HELO). The mission avionics has been developed by Teledyne Systems Company in its role as Mission Avionics Integrator to Sikorsky Aircraft, Division of United Technologies Corporation. Selection by the United States Navy of the SH-60F Helicopter with a major avionics reconfiguration to satisfy the requirements of Inner Zone Antisubmarine warfare was made in early 1985, and plans for initial flight testing are schedulded for early 1987. This fact alone has imposed constraints upon the extent of new hardware design, and as will be shown the avionics suite, while architectually new, incorporates existing, modified and new elements of hardware. Although fully integrated, primarily through the use of a MIL-STD-1553B multiplex bus, the system will be described in the context of its major functional elements; Tactical Data and Display Subsystem, Navigation Subsystem, Communication Subsystem, Sonar Subsystem, and Armament/Stores Subsystem.
