The ability of the threat radar intelligence analyst to cope with higher emitter densities and increased signal complexities associated with threat radars requires the integration of new receiver and post-processor subsystem technologies. Advanced computer simulation technologies are emerging which allow radar analysts to accurately model complex radar system designs, and to evaluate their complexities and vulnerabilities. Dynamic simulations from a library of generic radar systems, and their associated subsystems, can be used to predict the performance of a radar hardware system based on the input waveform signal and the specification of each subsystem's component design parameters. With a dynamic simulation capability, the intelligence analyst or the radar designer can evaluate the various receiver technologies, specify the design options, and identify unique device non-linearities. An accurate simulation of system performance in degraded operational environments lends support and clarity to the understanding of anomalies in actual environments.
