This paper describes a simple experimental technique that can provide a continuous velocity-time history of a projectile during railgun acceleration. The technique essentially involves monitoring flux expansion in the railgun. It is accomplished by linking 'all' of the flux produced by the railgun with a loop of wire which encompasses the entire railgun. Theory and experimental results are described.
