The Navy is certain that the language is the key to the achievement of the requirements that the Navy sees for the future. For Navy standard computers, the requirements are not necessarily the operational requirements so common, but the business decisions of how to make the systems for the operational requirements affordable. Without the requirements for new systems, the existing standards would satisfy the needs. Yet, the threat demands greater signal processing capability: a new generation signal processor is required. Through the development of the language the Navy expects to benefit greatly over the life of this system. Whether technology requires the development of a totally new concept for the next generation signal processor is left for history to discover.
