Our system seems technically feasible after some additional developments. Costs of operation for this system will be slightly higher than conventional diesel bus operation but definitely lower than corresponding trolley bus operation. Certain bus stops must always be approached for over head wire connection. These bus stops should be carefully selected using locations where the bus generally stops minimizing time delay. Over head wire installation is reduced to approximately 25 % of actual bus route length. Installation st reduction is significant as we also have the possibility of avoiding difficult passages. This will also result in fewer undesired wire disconnections. Flexibility is enhanced in comparison with conventional trolley buses due to the possibility of leaving the over head wire for considerable distances keeping performance at a reasonable level. Swedish State Power Board will publish the first progress report concerning this trolley/flywheel bus during 1982.
