In this paper the effect of actuator/sensor model errors is examined via robustness theory. The underlying idea is to project the error into an input or output unstructured multiplicative form. In general, this procedure introduces conservatism since the set of actual errors does not define the set of unstructured errors. However, the result here shows very little conservatism. Nothwithstanding this result, it is a formidable problem to analytically investigate each and every type of sensor and actuator - particularly since there is not much real data available at the present time. Thus, we conclude that the procedure to evaluate actuators and sensors as presented here is reasonable, cost-effective, and comprehensible.
