It is required to measure the vehicle speed for monitoring of speed control. On the other hand, it is neccessary to attach the gap sensors to the magnetic wheel in order to control the magnetic force in attraction Maglev systems. This paper investigates into the capability of the speed measurement using these gap sensor signals. As gap sensor signals are mixed with vehicle dynamical motions when running along guideway, so it is essential to remove this kind of noise, in applying correlation techniques. With the proposed method, it is possible to remove the noise almost perfectly and to obtain the transport delay by searching the negative peak position in correlation function form. The experiment is successfully carried out to a certain extent in laboratory. This proposed idea has an advantage of requiring special equipments to neither guideway nor vehicle, without a data processing unit.
