Trackling systems with living controllers are represented by sequences of differential equations with random initial conditions. The initia lconditions are related to the ability of the controller to predict the system input. The differential equations represent consistent tracking behavior based upon possibly imprecise predictions of the input. In the sequential tracking process, a theoretical controller follows in a statistical sense a sequence of tangents to the system input. A better overall statistical description of tracking behavior is given by the sequential theory rather than the optimal control model in an antiaircraft artillery man-machine application.
