The Yugoslav transport system is part of the European and World transport system. It serves 22 million Yugoslavs. Much trans‐continental traffic passes through Yugoslavia which is a bridge between Europe and Asia, linking them by land, air and sea.
Apart from internal distribution, the transport system facilitates the transport of millions of foreign and domestic tourists, handles about 6 million tons of transit freight each year and helps Yugoslavia's foreign trade with 132 countries.
The article describes the organization, decision‐making and management of transport in Yugoslavia and its future development (including the potential use of the Adriatic route to the Suez Canal) to improve and strengthen transport links with other countries.
