This paper describes the comparative analysis of the application of the Leeds Integrated Land‐use Transport model (LILT) and the MEPLAN model of Marcial Echenique & Partners to the city of Leeds in the north of England. This work is part of the research programme of the International Study Group on Land‐Use Transport Interaction (ISGLUTI). The objective of the comparison is to examine how far the models agree on the possible impacts of transport and land‐use policies over a twenty‐year period. The paper contains brief descriptions of the study area, the models, and the methodology for the comparison. The results consist of the analysis of the impact of nineteen transport and land‐use policy tests. Conclusions are drawn in terms of both the responses of the two models and the implications of the policies for the city of Leeds.
