In this letter, we focus on the problem of adaptive detection for underwater moving targets. To reduce the detection performance degradation caused by range cell migration (RCM), we formulate the detection problem as a multiple-hypothesis test, and we adopt the persymmetric structure of the interference covariance matrix to decrease the amount of secondary data. Then we use the model order selection (MOS) rules to estimate the distribution of target echo. Finally, we combine the primary data and the secondary data to realize the MLE of all unknown parameters and derive the mathematical expression of the detection method based on the one-step generalized likelihood ratio test (GLRT).The performance analysis shows that the proposed detection method can accurately estimate the distribution of RCM target echo, and compared with the same type of detection method, this detection method can effectively improve the target detection performance, which has a detection performance advantage of more than 8dB when the number of secondary data is limited.
