Efficient and reliable vehicle braking is one of the most important part of vehicle constructional safety. The implementation of active safety, such as Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), should improve the performance of vehicle braking; however, there are some cases when unfavourable driving conditions complicate the provided operation. The ABS braking performance is investigated in this paper when the fluctuations of wheel angular and peripheral movement are caused by road with pavement obstacles. The issue of ABS is investigated organising hardware-in-the loop (HIL) system with eight-phase algorithm for control of wheel braking pressure. The opportunity to restrict a complete control cycle after detection of rough pavement braking avoiding protracted wheel locking and a dynamic correction of the thresholds is estimated.
