The coronavirus disease, which emerged in 2019 (COVID-19), was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020 [1, 2]. As of May 2022, more than 6 million people have died from COVID-19, with current projections estimating around 15 million deaths worldwide [3]. This pandemic has irreversibly affected the entire structure of the world’s population and healthcare systems [4–6], thus placing a tremendous additional psychosocial and biomechanical burden on healthcare workers [5, 6].
