The primary purpose of an active suspension system is to reduce the effects of road disturbances on the passenger while maintaining good vehicle control and road handling. This paper presents the new fuzzy logic control for quarter vehicle suspension system of the in-wheel motor (IWM) driven electric vehicles to improve its ride comfort, handling stability and reduce motor vibration. The proposed fuzzy logic control has been defined to minimize sprung mass acceleration, motor mass acceleration, and satisfying the suspension essential performances. The simulation results show that the active suspension system based on the suggested fuzzy logic controller (FLC) provides higher ride comfort than the PID controller and passive suspension system.
