Micro/nanorobot swarms promise significant potential in various fields, especially in biomedicine. To date, how to realize clinical medical applications of microswarms still remains one of the biggest challenges in this research field. This chapter first briefly introduces several representative examples of biomedical applications of microswarms, such as rapid biosensing, detecting bio-fluid properties, photothermal–chemotherapy, in vivo imaging-guided navigation, and in vivo embolization. We then highlight three different biomedical applications of magnetic microswarms in detail, including enhancing local hyperthermia by utilizing the gathering effect of vortex-like swarms, eradicating biofilm with porous Fe3O4 nanoparticle swarms and magnetic urchin-like capsule robot swarms, and accelerating thrombolysis through ribbon-like swarm-enhanced convection and shear stress.
