Abstract The paper presents a new, innovative concept regarding a propulsion system for non-autonomous electric vehicles (trolley buses, trams, subway frames). The system’s main part is the electric-hydraulic generator. The generator converts electrical energy into hydrostatic energy that’s stored in an accumulator. By using a hydraulic motor, this hydrostatic energy is converted in motor torque in form of rotational motion. Because the electric motor operates in a single regime, the electric consumption is reduced. Also the new system ensures better dynamic performances and operational safety.
