This paper presents a midcourse trajectory modification approach for hypersonic vehicle based on the predictive control. Firstly, the hypersonic vehicle midcourse guidance problem is regarded as a trajectory optimization problem, and generate the midcourse trajectory for hypersonic vehicle with fixed terminal constraints by Gauss pseudospectral method. Secondly, considering the issue of potential alterations in terminal states of vehicle as a result of target maneuvering, the trajectory modification method of hypersonic vehicle under the framework of predictive control is designed, so that the optimal control variable can be obtained according to the current actual states during the actual flight, and the robustness of the guidance process of the vehicle can be improved. Finally, two scenarios are simulated. The result reveals that when the maneuvering form of the target is known, the midcourse trajectory modification approach based on the predictive control can achieve real-time rolling optimization, then guide the vehicle to the range of the terminal state which changes in real time. Compared with direct optimization by Gauss pseudospectral method, the proposed method has higher flexibility, and is more suitable for mission requirements in practical applications with higher practical value.
