In Romania, the diversification and automation of technological processes for dismantling, recycling, and waste energy recovery from the automotive sector are continuously evolving. The analysis of the development stage involves assessing the existing infrastructure, technologies used, and current legislation in automotive waste management. In analyzing the social, economic, and environmental impact of the utilized technological processes, both benefits and challenges are associated with their implementation within a circular economy and sustainable development framework. From the analysis conducted during a study carried out in the period April - July 2023 at an automotive dismantling unit in Agigea (Constanta County, Romania, Europe) in the dismantling phase of End-of-Life Vehicles (ELVs), it is evident that an average of 2200 kg of materials per vehicle can be recovered. By optimizing recycling and circularity processes and focusing on recovering a more significant number of critical raw materials, more robust supply chains can be developed, reducing exposure to price fluctuations. The evaluation highlights the necessity of investing in an automated disassembly line for the vehicle processing unit.
