Robot tactile intelligence is an important means for robots to perceive and recognize external collaborative interactions. It ensures safety, comfort, and friendliness during human-robot collaboration. In order to enable collaborative robots to achieve large-scale perception of the environment or tactile interaction with humans, a tactile sensor and intelligent system with large coverage were designed, prepared, and tested. The tactile sensor covers 75% of the surface area of the collaborative robot. These tactile sensors can conform to non-uniform curved surfaces, addressing the limitation of traditional flexible sensors in achieving large-area conformity to non-uniform curved surfaces. The tactile intelligent system is capable of simultaneously recognizing 12 types of human-machine interaction actions and determining the position and direction of contact points. By integrating the tactile intelligent system with collaborative robots, the collaborative robots can perceive the intentions, positions, and directions of human body movements, enabling the robots to provide corresponding response and feedback. Human-robot interaction experiments were designed, and the results demonstrated that the robot was able to perceive human intentions and perform appropriate movements using the tactile sensors, thereby improving the safety, comfort, and friendliness of human-robot collaboration.
