This chapter continues the practical journey by presenting the application development aspect of the video quality assessment (VQA) model with JavaScript. To obtain a real-time mean opinion score (MOS) for video streaming quality, a no-reference (NR) image quality assessment (IQA) metric is employed. In an era where content is consumed in massive amounts in a matter of seconds, no original feed is usually available. With a live video as input, the algorithm presented in this book takes continuous screenshots, which are fed sequentially into the algorithm. Blocking, ringing, blurring, and noising are examples of artifacts against which the blind/reference-less image spatial quality evaluator (BRISQUE) is applied. This chapter therefore elaborates on how JavaScript is used to build a robust, reliable, and real-time VQA framework.
