Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) or Drones is an autonomous aerial vehicle that receives remote commands from Ground Station (GS) or relies on software for their operation. Due to the rapid advancement in aerial technology, they are more frequently used in civil and military applications such as agriculture, autonomous delivery of packages, city surveillance, searching and rescue missions, and disaster relief efforts. Drones collect real-time data; anyone in a certain flight zone can interact with them through their mobile devices to access the data. Despite the usefulness and benefits of drones, their accessibility and ease of use can lead to significant security and privacy breaches associated with software applications, hardware components, and communication channels. Security and privacy concerns of drones are crucial to address due to the characteristics of real-time information and the accessibility of communication channels. UAVs are susceptible to various attacks, including availability, confidentiality, integrity attacks, likely false data injection, GPS spoofing, jamming, and fuzzing. Robust security protocols should be implemented to protect UAVs from attackers to mitigate these security risks. This chapter explores the classification of threat vulnerabilities in the existing security standards and suggests strategies for improving the security of UAVs. An in-depth analysis of the various cyber-security protocols used across drones has been made. Consequently, possible security threats were encountered and labelled.
