As the share of maritime transportation in global trade persist to increase, shipping companies’ tendencies to increase their fleet sizes and cargo cause environmental effects in the form of greenhouse gas emissions sourced from fuel consumption. Hence, the environmental performance of ships plays a crucial role both in green shipping and cost-effectiveness. The International Maritime Organization recommends the energy efficiency operational index (EEOI) as the most important performance indicator for decision-making in operational activities in shipping. In this study, green ship routing problem on liner shipping which considers resistance effects caused by several weather conditions as well as time windows has been addressed. A case study has been conducted for the evaluation of the proposed model in which EEOI of obtained routes have been compared to current routes. Results show that the proposed model can be utilized in preplanning of liner routes in various weather periods.
